Will my data be secure?

Yes! Appliances are shipped with security certificates. They use these to prevent connections except from the other appliances sold to you at the same time. Your data is only kept on your appliances and all appliances are shipped with remote access disabled.

How much data can I store?

Each Synctus unit comes with a 250 GB disk as standard, giving you over 200 GB of usable space shared between all your offices. Need more? Bigger disks are also available.

Will Synctus integrate with my company VPN?

Yes! Each appliance will connect to the Internet to exchange IPs and then use any available VPN to communicate directly.

Can I pre-populate the replicas?

Sure! Just plug in all your Synctus appliances right next to each other on the same switch with an Internet connection available. They will locate each other, find that are next to each other and communicate directly. Copy your data onto one of them and the data will replicate to the others directly over your switch.

How will I run backups?

Each Synctus unit contains a complete replica of your data. Simply set your backup software to back up the file share at one office. For redundancy, you could even do this at more than one office.

Does Synctus work with Microsoft Excel shared workbooks?

Yes—they work just the same as they do in a single office without Synctus.

What happens if the connection goes down?

Without Synctus, branch offices would instantly lose access to all files.

With Synctus, files are already replicated at all offices. Each file has a lock which is held at the office where the file was last used. If the connection is down, then although the locks cannot be transferred, this means that the office which last used the file will be able to carry on as normal.
